I love the analogy, Karrie. I could tell that you did too--as though it even kind of took you by surprise. It's funny what a camera can bring out in a person. I've watched it happen during an interview when someone says something that is true, yet it is spoken in a unchartered way.
SHINE seems like it was an exciting project to work on. I'm eager to see it, especially as someone who is beginning a new business (yet another coming out...)

Holli,

Yes, men are included in the film and if you are interested, there are three other trailers for SHINE online with men's voices included. You can get to them by clicking the link below the video where it says "SHINE Official Trailer 4".

It would be a shame not to include both men and women in a film like this as each have important voices and experiences to share. I know that as an interviewer I had a difficult time ending the interviews because the stories were so beautiful, profound, compelling and for the reason that I believe people really need to be heard. I think entrepreneurs spend a lot of time in the trenches and to have a moment to just simply tell their story is really a powerful reminder, confirming for them the reasons why they took the leap.

I'll announce the release of SHINE when it happens. There will probably be a party at Fremont Studios to show it and it may also be released online. They are keeping us in suspense about the details.

Thanks for your note!

Hey, I really enjoyed stumbling onto this while seeking a look at your logo.

My thoughts: I think that the trailer is well done and I look forward to watching the full feature. However, I do think that a man should have been included in it. Culturally, men have been placed in this formula where they get a "stable" job and support a family or buy a house, a boat and a nice car. While I admire and applaud all women who become entrepreneurs, I think it is a more natural and acceptable thing for women to do..though perhaps because they have no other choice. Our nation was founded by entrepreneurs, and historically men have gone from cowboys to those seeking jobs for a stable pension. As that ideal is collapsing, it is every man and woman for their own self.

Again, I admire all entrepreneurs and love some of them in my own family - cheers to those who made this film!

This is a beautifully done video and it works well with this gorgeous house! I don't think it's something that would be helpful with just any listing, though. It works well here because the house is gorgeous and custom...the sellers obviously put a lot into the remodeling of this house and created a really lovely space (with love!).
Something like this is great for creating a good buzz (which is awesome when marketing) for a home like this.
The videographer did a great job here! Nice!

Carol,

I like that idea of going back to the inspiration around the logo. After much toiling and thought, I decided to stay with the logo I was contemplating and really love the intention behind it.

A wonderful surprise is that I am starting a new business and the other logo we were looking at is PERFECT for it! So, viola, problem solved and no more design phases needed. I am sure Karen of Redfyve is relieved!

I'd love to hear more comments on this topic as I think it's very important. The conversation about logos is still open for discussion!

Hey Karrie,

Thanks for the sweet props! I, too, am going to the Grand Opening and have invited some of my friends to come because this is such an exciting concept. I know this is a great thing Claire is doing.

Darcey, that personal connection is exactly what made it work so well. It was not a schlocky real estate pitch, but rather, a personal connection you made with prospective buyers through the video.

That's the difference. You not only utilized the tools of video and social media, but you do it in just the way I encourage clients to do it: with authenticity, heart, connective energy. A cold, hard, sales video would not have reached people.

Bravo and congrats on selling your house while giving the new owners something they can keep and cherish. Wouldn't it be great if every house came with a video from all the past owners? We often say in my home "I wish we could meet all the people who were here before us and know their story." Maybe you started a tradition that will carry on in that home, who knows!?

Thanks for your thoughts.

UPDATE since posting:

Seattle's Carrotmob event doubled the Pike Pub & Brewery's sales. They are putting 4K into energy retrofits. Not only that, Gabriel Scheer tells us that Carrotmob partnered with Seattle City Light and with their incentives, the pub can now apply 20K to the retrofit (removing half the cost!). A huge success in Seattle. Bring it on, Carrotmob!

Thanks Karrie for sharing our story. I'm glad that you felt your readers/followers/fans would appreciate the intent behing it. Of course the intent was to sell the house but it was also to help people have a more personal experience with it. For as much as those that "don't get it" think that all this social media 'stuff' is impersonal and/or too advanced, i would boost the contrary. it opens up a chance for people to interact and engage on a different level. It also opens up a whole new market. I wanted to open our house up to prospective buyers in other parts of the country (world?), much like Brett Renville of Leaning Wolf Productions put it.
